Recently I'm getting weary of Facebook, or what we Facebookers simply refer to it as FB for short.
It seems I'm not the only one. There are 3 articles to support me:
25 Random Things about Facebook
You Can't Friend Me, I Quit!
Friends, Until I Delete You
And I am so amused by Burger King's recent "unfriend your friends for a free whopper" FB campaign, I'm going to throw in another related article for my own amusement. (Why, did you think I wrote this article for the general public's enlightenment?)
Burger King Cancels Facebook Ad Campaign
Now, I must confess, I resisted FB for as long as I could and not because I am old-ER than the general FB demographic. I resisted because although the elitist in me liked that FB was created by a Harvardite, the same elitist in me also regrets that it didn't stay more exclusive. Oh well, I certainly made up for it by making my FB circle of friends very exclusive.
Now, don't get me wrong, my FB circle is exclusive not because I am an intellectual snob who not-so-secretly love the most elite of the elite schools. Just so it happens, I went to one of these schools and so my friends from that era are intellectually "pedigreed" people as he-who-must-not-be-named would have called them.
But I digress.
So why, after years of hardcore resistance, did I succumb to FB? First of all, because I found that it was the easiest way to not lose touch with the little (I.e. young) friends I made in Europe. But, let's be honest, the nudge I needed was that he-who-must-not-be-named was on FB.
